Bespoke commission

Made for you.
Only for you.

Every Maison Subira commission is made by a single woman artisan in Kigali, Rwanda — to your colour, your size, your intention. No one else will ever own one like it.

"This is not a product you buy. It is an object you commission — made slowly, by hand, to a standard that Maison Subira stands behind completely. There is no other one like yours anywhere."

What bespoke means at Maison Subira

Not a variation.
A commission.

When you commission a Maison Subira piece, you are not choosing from a colour swatch of existing stock. You are instructing a specific artisan to make something that has never existed before, and will not exist again.

Your colour, exactly
You describe the colour you want — we match it from our yarn range and send you a swatch image before production begins. Dusty rose, deep teal, warm ivory, charcoal, sage — or something you bring to us.
Your size, precisely
Standard dimensions or something specific to your space, your sofa, your bed. Tell us the measurements — we work to them.
Maison Subira quality, guaranteed
Every commission is made by our artisan team in Kigali, Rwanda and quality-checked before dispatch. Maison Subira stands behind every piece — not a supplier, not a middleman. Us.
No one else has one
We do not reproduce bespoke commissions. Your colour, your size, your piece — it is made once, for you.
The commission process

From conversation
to your door.

Eight steps. Three to four weeks. One piece that belongs entirely to you.

01
Day 1
You reach out
Message us on WhatsApp or email with your idea — or simply a question. We respond within a few hours. There is no form, no automated reply. A person answers.
How to reach us WhatsApp is the fastest way to begin — you can share images, describe colours, ask questions in real time. A short conversation is all we need to understand your commission.
02
Day 1–2
Your commission brief
We ask about the product, the colour, the size, and what it is for. A gifting occasion, a specific room, a personal indulgence — it helps us understand what you are really asking for.
What we ask Which product. What colour or palette. What size. What it is for. Any timeline. That is the entire brief — ten minutes by message.
03
Day 2
Your commission proposal
We send a personalised proposal — the exact piece, the total price, the lead time. Not a price list. A proposal written for your commission.
What the proposal includes Product description · Colour confirmation · Dimensions · Commission price · Lead time · Deposit amount to confirm
04
Day 2–3
Your production slot is secured
A 50% deposit confirms your commission and secures your production slot. We confirm the timeline and begin immediately.
Why a deposit Every commission takes artisan hours that cannot be used for anything else. The deposit reserves those hours for your piece. Balance is due before dispatch.
05
Day 7
Your in-progress photograph
Around day seven, we send you one photograph of your piece being made. You will see the colour in the light of the workshop. You will see the hands that are making it.
Why we do this It is not a status update. It is a window into the making. Most clients say this is the moment the commission becomes real.
06
Day 21–28
Your piece is complete
We photograph the finished piece and send it to you before packing. The balance payment is requested. Then it is packed.
The packing Ivory magnetic lid box · Gold foil stamp · Tissue paper · Ribbon · Maison Subira artisan card — handwritten, with the hours it took and a note on the craft
07
Day 25–32
Shipped with a tracking number
Your commission ships via DHL Express. UK: 3–5 days. UAE: 2–4 days. US: 5–7 days. We send the tracking number the moment it leaves Kigali.
International shipping We ship to the UK, UAE, USA, and most countries worldwide. Import duties may apply depending on your location — we will advise in advance.
08
Delivery day
It arrives
We send one message on the day of delivery. We ask one thing: how is it? There is no further sales communication unless you reach out first.
After delivery Six weeks later, we will send a single message — not promotional — just to ask how the piece is settling in. Nothing more.
The people who make it

Not a factory.
A craft team.

The unboxing

The packaging is
part of the piece.

Every commission arrives in Maison Subira packaging designed to make an impression before the piece is even visible.

Ivory magnetic lid box
Rigid board, ivory matte finish, gold foil Maison Subira stamp. Designed to be kept long after the piece is unwrapped.
Tissue paper and ribbon
Natural ivory tissue, cotton ribbon. The piece is wrapped before the box is sealed — the opening is slow and intentional.
The Maison Subira artisan card
Handwritten. The hours it took. A note on the craft and the making. The card that comes with every commission — and that people keep long after the piece is unwrapped.
Common questions

Before you
reach out.

How long does a commission take?
3–4 weeks from confirmed deposit. We give you an honest lead time at the point of proposal. If you have a specific date in mind — a gifting occasion, an event — tell us at the start and we will confirm whether it is achievable.
Is there a minimum spend for bespoke?
No minimum order quantity — a single piece is a commission. Pricing depends on the product type and specifications. We share the exact price in your commission proposal before you commit to anything.
Can I choose any colour?
Within our yarn range, yes. We will share a swatch image to confirm the colour before production begins. For very specific colour matching, we advise in advance on what is achievable.
What if I want a custom size?
Tell us your dimensions and we will confirm feasibility. Most size requests are straightforward. Unusual proportions may affect lead time — we will advise.
Can I commission something as a gift?
Yes — and it is one of our most frequent requests. Tell us who the gift is for and the occasion. We can adjust the artisan card wording, include a personal message, and ship directly to the recipient if preferred.
What are the payment terms?
50% deposit to confirm and begin production. Balance due before dispatch. We send a payment link via WhatsApp or email — whichever is convenient for you.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — UK, UAE, USA, and most countries worldwide via DHL Express. We share estimated shipping cost at the proposal stage. Import duties may apply and vary by destination — we advise in advance.
What if the piece arrives damaged?
Photograph it immediately and message us on WhatsApp. Damage claims must be raised within 7 days of receipt with photographic evidence. We will replace or resolve — without complication.
