Your piece was made to last — Care for it accordingly
Crochet is resilient when treated with care. The same hands that made your piece will outlast a hundred machine-washed garments — if you treat it well.
Fill a basin with cold water and a small amount of gentle liquid detergent. Submerge the piece and move it gently through the water. Do not wring, twist, or scrub.
Rinse in cold water until the water runs clear. Press gently to remove water — do not wring. Wringing distorts the shape and breaks fibres.
Place on a clean dry towel on a flat surface. Reshape gently to its original dimensions while damp. Allow to air dry away from direct sunlight or heat.
Never tumble dry. The heat and motion will shrink and distort the piece permanently. Air drying is the only correct method.
If ironing is required, use a cool iron (max 110C) on the reverse side only. Place a thin cloth between the iron and the piece.
Fold — do not hang — for long-term storage. Store in a breathable cotton bag or drawer. Keep away from direct sunlight to preserve color.
